Kevin McWilliams - Pastor
Hello,
My family and I are so happy to be at Seventh Street and back in Nederland, Texas. I was raised here and went to school at NHS. At the age of 17, I moved away to chase my dream of cowboying. I will always be a cowboy at heart but many years later, and after a bunch of injuries, I realized there had to be another way. I am not talking about making a living, being a working ranch hand is fine if you like that sort of work... I am talking about things that I had gotten myself into that were not good for me or anyone else. The more I stayed in those things, the more they were wrecking my life.
I want you to know God has a sense of humor. That’s right, a real sense of humor. I started meeting ranchers and ranch hands that were true believers and it made me realize that something was really missing in my life. That something was what God calls being born again. Don’t let that bother you, it is not a Baptist thing, it is a Jesus thing. You see Jesus said “Unless you be born again you cannot enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.” Isn’t that something!
I read another verse that is one of my favorites and it showed me that this being born again applies to all mankind. Read it for yourself. It is found in 2 Corinthians 5:17.
So how can someone be born again? It is a good question and the answer is only found in the scriptures of the Holy Bible and they will point you to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Here is a simple explanation of the steps to receive Christ as The Lord Saviour.
- Step #1 Realize that Jesus loves you.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall have everlasting life.
- Step #2 Realize we have a need for a Savior because of sin.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
What is sin? Anything contrary to the Holy Bible
- Step#3 We have to trust that Jesus is who He said He is.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are you saved through faith and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Not of works lest any man should boast.
- Step #4 Repent of your sins
What is repentance? It means to turn away from doing what is contrary to the the bible and start doing what the bible says to do.
Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore and be converted that your sins may be blotted out, when times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.
- Step #5 Commit your life to Christ
Romans 10:9-10 That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and shall believe in the heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.
- Step #6 Call upon the Lord to save you.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the Lord shall be saved.
Here is a simple prayer that we call The Sinner's Prayer, but remember you have to mean it sincerely or you are just going through motions.
Dear Lord Jesus,
I know that I have sinned and need your forgiveness. I believe that you died for my sins. Forgive my sins and put me right with you. I will follow you, Jesus, as my Lord and obey You in all that I do. Come into my heart from this moment and be my Lord and Savior forevermore. Thank you for saving me Lord Jesus. I pray this prayer in Jesus' name. Amen.
If you have prayed this prayer, please contact us as we would love to hear from you.
Thanks,
